Last Thursday’s long awaited groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of contruction on the Bristol Fire Station renovation which will have two new new engine bays, a new common/training room, kitchen and decontamination room.
Jason Alderman, with Madrid CPWG Engineering Consultant in Blountstown, opened the ceremony and discussed the project with City of Bristol officials, fire department personnel and citizens attending the event. Chad Bailey, also with CPWG, will oversee the construction of the new facility which is projected to be completed in October of this year.
The City of Bristol Fire Department has one full time employee, Chief Dale Hobby, and 14 volunteers. Hobby has been with the department for 54 years and has served as Chief for 29 years. His wife Carol is also active with the department.

Chief Hobby expressed thanks to City Council members for their support, foresight and commitment in this initiative to our community’s future. He also expressed gratitude to the State and Federal agencies that funded the project and going the extra mile with support and commitment as this dream becomes a reality.
Chief Hobby also recognized Madrid CPWG Engineering Consultant, CPWG Constructors, and MLD Architects for working tirelessly to bring us to this moment.
In attendance for the groundbreaking event were representatives for former Senator Bill Montford, Representative Jason Shoaf, City Council members, Mayor, Division of State Fire Marshal’s Office, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, CPWG, Bristol Fire Department and local citizens.
