United Way kicks off $2 million campaign

The thermometer says it all: Calhoun and surrounding counties are attempting to raise $2 million this year to help area charities and non-profit groups. A kickoff celebration was held at the corner of SR 20 and 71 in Blountstown Friday with representatives of the Calhoun County Senior Citizens Association, Calhoun Correctional Institution and the City of Blountstown on hand for the event. Ron Sharpe, the Regional United Way director, extends his appreciation to Mark Barber and his team at CaCI for building and painting the campaign thermometers, saving almost $10,000 for the United Way of Northwest Florida.
