Two more announce plans to seek office

Two more candidates have thrown their hats into the ring for the upcoming 2012 election. It will be the former county commissioner vs. the current county commissioner in district 3. Incumbent Don Miller has filed his letter of intent to run, as has former commissioner Jeral Hall. Both will be running as democrats. In other election news, early voting begins Saturday, Jan. 21, for the presidential preference election. Registered Republicans will be the only ones casting ballots in this election as President Barack Obama is the obvious Democratic candidate on the ballot in the fall. Early voting will run from Jan. 21-28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Calhoun County Supervisor of Elections Office located in the courthouse basement. Election day is Jan. 31. On the ballot are Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain (who has not officially dropped out in Florida), Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.
