Tigers capture state runner-up title; Altha’s Tucker, Wriston bring home medals

The Blountstown Tigers finished state runners-up in boys weight lifting in Kissimmee over the weekend, while Altha had two lifters bring home state medals. For BHS, Chaz Fain was the 154 State Champion. Jawon Mosley came in second place in the 139 class. Hunter Jenks came in third place in the 119 class and Ryan Hathcox came in third place in the 169 class. Chris Byrne came in 10th place in the 154 class and Dowling Lee came in tied for 10th in the 238 class. Representing Altha, freshman Ronnie Tucker finished state runner up in the 119 pound weight class. Tucker had a 225 bench press and a 195 pound clean and jerk. Ronnie is the first freshman to ever medal in boys weightlifting at AHS. Sophomore Trevor Wriston finished 6th place in the 129 pound weight class with a 205 bench press and a 205 pound clean and jerk.
