The weather was great Saturday morning as Coach Emory Horne and his Tiger Baseball Team hosted a youth baseball camp featuring four area players who have made it to the professional ranks. Over 120 young boys arrived at the Tiger’s facility for a morning of instruction, get some autographs, and dream of one day making it to the big time, just as these four young men have.
From left to right: Bryson Horne, 2017 graduate of Blountstown High School, currently in the Braves organization, signed in 2020, finished last season in High A. Jaden Rudd, 2021 Mosley High School graduate, now in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, signed in 2021, finished last season in the FCL. RJ Yeager, 2017 graduate of Mosley High School, currently in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, signed in 2022, finished last season in Low A. Lucas Dunn, 2017 graduate of Arnold High School, currently in the San Diego Padres organization, signed in 2021, finished the season in High A.
We are so thankful to have these guys come run our camp and share their baseball knowledge with our youth in our area. Horne, Dunn and Yeager all had stellar college careers before entering the professional ranks, while Rudd was drafted out of High school.
We had a huge turnout for the event with 120 youth signed up. None of this could have been possible without some great help. The Blountstown Tiger Diamond Club worked many hard hours to make this event possible: A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Lynn Fleck, Sabrina Dunlap, Laura Pope, Ellen Watson, Kim Horne, Kristi and Brent Attaway, Heather Ellerbee, Brannon House, Nicole Purvis, Susan Gates and KK Fleck. Some of the best assistant coaches in the world: Travis Scorza, Manny Stafford, Robbie Fleck, Travis Smith, Porter Smith, and Doot Engram. The entire Blountstown High school baseball team also worked many hard hours to make this camp a success. I want to thank the community for the support of the camp and our program. We hope to make this an annual event. BHS Head Baseball Coach Emory Horne
