Teacher Feature

by Clint Coley As a career advisor and transition specialist for Calhoun County Schools, Mrs. Loraine McClellan has helped many students find the right college and career of their dreams. She may be one of the shortest teachers at BHS, but her patience and pertinence reaches great measures. Born and raised in Blountstown, Florida, Mrs. McClellan has been helping students one at a time for nearly twenty-three years. She is a very social, not to mention outgoing person, who enjoys working with people. After graduating in 1982 from Blountstown High School she attended Chipola College for two years and earned an AA degree. She transferred to Florida State University where she earned a BS degree in Education. She married her high school sweet-heart Hiram McClellan and has two sons, Jay and Tyler. Jay is 22 and will graduate from Florida State in May with a degree in Business Administration. Tyler is 18 and will also graduate this year from Blountstown High School. Mrs. McClellan enjoys attending Rivertown Community Church, traveling with her husband, and spending quality time with her boys. Her favorite book is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. All in all after she has helped so many students with life and career choices one of her life goals is to work with the American Red Cross.
