Teacher Feature

by Daphne Pace Mrs. Strong, my favorite teacher, has been teaching at Blountstown High School for 3 years. Before teaching at BHS, Mrs. Strong worked in Radio and television for over 20 years. She’s married with three grown children and six grandchildren. During high school, her best subject was English (she found it easy to understand) with biology being her worst (found it gross and confusing.) At the age of 36, she decided to get a college degree. She got an A.A. from Chipola, and a B.S. in Communication from FSU just before her 40th birthday. Five years later, she decided to leave the TV business and took more classes to become a teacher. What makes her so special is her passion for the subject and students she teaches. She mostly enjoys teaching because she loves seeing students grow intellectually over time. Mrs. Strong chose to be an English teacher since she loves books, writing, and words. Her favorite book is Redeeming Love, by Francine Rivers. She tries to make learning fun and her students love her for that. Her students also admire her for having an understanding attitude, sense of humor, and changing up her teaching techniques. Outside of school she loves shopping, Facebooking, and singing with her church praise team. Mrs. Strong undoubtedly has a special spot at BHS and will continue to make English class entertaining!
