Snapped pole and power lines result in grass fire

The Nettle Ridge and Magnolia Volunteer Fire Departments were assisted Saturday afternoon on Roy Golden Road by the Blountstown Fire Department, the Florida Forest Service , Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol and crews from West Florida Electric Cooperative.  Two separate grass fires were started when electrical wires fell to the ground after a power pole snapped.  Strong winds were spreading the fires quickly.  The Forest Service crew cut a line around the burned areas.  WFEC crews repaired the lines and replaced the pole.  Residents in the area were without power for a short time.
