Sexual predator fails to register

What’s the difference between a sexual predator and a sexual offender? Plenty. Both have been convicted of sex crimes, but predators are described by Florida law as “repeat sexual offenders, sexual offenders who use physical violence, and sexual offenders who prey on children.” Although there are several sex offenders in Calhoun and Liberty counties, there are only a handful of predators. And one of those almost slipped under the radar by failing to register recently. Larry Wayne McCullen, 51, of 29667 SW Villas Sumner Road in Hosford, was arrested last week by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office for failing to register as a sexual predator. According to prison records, McCullen was convicted in 1996 of sexual battery with a weapon or force and kidnapping. He was sentenced to five years in prison, served three, and has been living in Hosford ever since. He is required to register every three months and failed to do so.
