Rev. Judson Shoemaker, 85, of Altha, went home to be with the Lord and joined his wife on May 15, 2009, after an extended illness. Rev. Shoemaker was born in Emira, New York, on April 1, 1924. He was an Army Air Force Veteran of WWII, where he served in Europe. He graduated from Taylor University and Nyack College in preparation for the ministry. After being ordained by the Christian & Missionary Alliance, he was a pastor and church planter for 50 years, serving in Pikeville, KY, Anderson, IN, Dearborn Heights, MI, Ypsilanti, MI, Marianna, FL, Eufaula, AL, and Fountain, FL. He also served the Taylor, MI school system for 13 years. He lived for Christ daily and taught others through his example. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Opal Shoemaker, by a few short hours.Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Barth and her husband, Jeffery, of Altha, FL, and Deborah McQuillar and her husband, Richard, of Midwest City, OK; one son, Nathan Shoemaker, and his wife, Pamela, of Westland, MI; adopted spiritual children, Dr. William Resinger and his wife, Edrea, of Palmer, AK; six grandchildren, Holly Sims and her husband, Zacc, of Tallahassee, Nicholas Barth and his wife, Amber, of Dublin, OH, Heidi Stone and her husband, Michael, of Clarksville, FL, Richard McQuillar and his wife, Laura, of Ft. Worth, TX, Christina Shoemaker of Garden City, MI, and Kyle Shoemaker of Westland, MI; three great-grandchildren, Heath Sims, LeAnna Durant, and Kathryn Barth.Funeral services were held in combination with his wife’s on May 19th at 3:00 p.m. (CT) in Blountstown at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Hall, Rev. Timothy Hall, and Rev. Jim McIntosh officiating. Interment followed at New Shiloh Cemetery in Altha, FL. Donations may be made to the Great Commission Fund, P.O.
