Peavys Help Neighbors In Need Donate 200 turkeys in Calhoun and Liberty

Marlon and Debbie Peavy, owners of Peavy Funeral Home and Shiver’s Florist in Blountstown, wanted to do something for their neighbors this Thanksgiving. They did just that over the past week, donating 100 turkeys to those in need in Calhoun County and another 100 to Liberty County. “With the economy and people out of work, there are a lot of hungry folks in our two counties,” said Marlon. “The communities have been good to our businesses and it’s our way of showing how grateful we are.” Marlon and his son, Travis, delivered 100 turkeys Friday to pastors in Liberty County where several churches are feeding Thanksgiving meals, one at the civic center, as well as deliveries to the homebound. They are shown above with pastors from two of the nine participating churches, Pastor Terry Eubanks and Rev. Coy Collins. Marlon and Debbie (shown in the top photo) presented 100 turkeys to the Calhoun County Firefighters Association Monday night. Each department will deliver turkeys to residents in the areas they serve. Marlon says he and Debbie look forward to continuing this tradition and working with more churches next year.
