Mr. Lewis A. (Butch) Coombs, 63, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011, in Tallahassee. Butch was born on April 24, 1948, in Kinston, NC, and had lived in Tallahassee since 2003. He served as a police officer in Sanford, FL, for eight years and was owner and operator of Butch’s Automotive and Towing Business. Butch was past president of the Corvette Club in Sanford and a member of the Truck Towing Association. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Pentecostal Church in Hosford, FL. Survivors include his wife, Michelle Coombs, of Tallahassee; two daughters, Barbie Ann Tate and her husband, Steve, of South Dakota and Cindy Reeves of Orlando, FL; two stepsons, Cody Phillips of Bristol, FL and Justin Brinson of Tallahassee, FL; one stepdaughter, Shanna Phillips, of Tallahassee; one brother, James Vernon Coombs, and his wife, Sibyl, of Palm Coast, FL; two sisters, Mary Langston and her husband, Robert, of Deep Run, NC and Judy Hall and her husband, Michael, of Deep Run, NC; and four grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Monday, October, 17, at 11 am (EDT) at Mt. Zion United Pentecostal Church in Hosford, with Reverend Aaron Elkins and Reverend James Coombs officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerlin Family Cemetery in Telogia. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 16, from 7 until 9 pm (EDT) at Mt. Zion United Pentecostal Church in Hosford.
