Obituaries – October 25, 2023


 Martha Sue Pitts age 85 of Bristol, Florida passed away peacefully on October 20,2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born to Mary Katherine Fort and Johnnie Virgil Fort on July 25, 1938, in Kennett, Missouri. She moved to Florida in 1974 where she worked as a manager at the Apalachee Restaurant and was a Postal employee for many years. Sue wore many hats, but her most beloved was tending to her grandkids, great grandkids, and baking cakes. Sue never met a stranger, to know her was to love her. She was well loved and better known as Grannie Sue to many in her small town. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cazzie Hubert Pitts, her mother, Mary Katherine Fort Copeland, her father, Johnnie Virgil Fort, stepfather, Loyde Copeland, her brothers, Jerry Ronald Fort and Nathan Dale Fort, a sister, Barbara Jean Fort and her grandsons, Micah, and Caz Forbus. 

Sue is survived by her children, Shelia Sirmons (Don) of Bristol, Florida, Lanny Blackburn (Chris) of St. Louis, Missouri, Randy Blackburn of Bristol, Florida, Lisa Rogers (Carlton) of Chattahoochee, Florida, Connie Keathley (Jody) Dundee, Florida, Candy Walker (Jay) and Cammie Bowlin (Darrin), both from Havana, Florida ; two sisters, Fay Franklin of Livonia, Louisiana and Kathy Thompson (Larry) of Caruthersville, Missouri; 14 Grandchildren, Amanda Jackson and Deanna Parrish, Susan Pigue and Lana Larson, Johnathan Blackburn, Gracie Blackburn, Hayleigh Robinson, Josh Rogers, Heather Bryd, Eric Keathley, Courtney Keathley, Dustin Bowlin, Dallas Bowlin, Cylas Bowlin and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a host of well-loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 23, 2023 at 2:00 pm (CDT) 3:00 pm (EDT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chris Goodman officiating. Interment  followed in Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol, FL. 

All arrangements were under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL. 850-674-2266.


David Albert Tucker, 72 of Bristol, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023, in Marianna. David was born June 9, 1951, in Blountstown to the late James and Cletter Tucker. David lived in Bristol most of his life and was a truck driver until his retirement.

Other than his parents David is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Yon, Donald Tucker, Hazel Crutchfield, Bill Tucker and Brant Tucker.

His is survived by his children, Jason Lamar Tucker and his wife Nikki and James Paul Tucker; his brothers, Johnny Tucker and his wife Shebretia and William Tucker and his wife Angie; his sisters, Eva Tanton and her husband Dennis, Gwen Sapp and her husband Joe and Annie Kent and her husband and five grandchildren.

Memorial services to honor David’s life were held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel.

Rebecca Bess Howell Nobles, 84, passed away October 21, 2023, peacefully surrounded by her family. Rebecca was born June 19, 1939, in Hattiesburg, MS to William Louie and Fannie Burkett Howell and moved to Bristol in 1963. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bristol. Becky loved music, singing in the church choir, playing the piano and singing at the nursing home. She was active in the prison fellowship ministry for many years. After retiring from Liberty County school system as a secretary, she served as a member of the Bristol City Council and as Mayor of the City of Bristol. She loved God, family, and others, always willing to help when needed. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, husbands, Bobby Joe Nobles Sr., and Jack Bowman; son Bobby Joe(Joey Nobles Jr.); son-in-law, Steve Smalley; grandson Ryan Nobles; and brother, Jimmy Frank Howell. 

Survivors include son, Louis Kimble (Kim) Nobles and wife Regina of Bristol; daughter, Carla Rebecca Smalley of Tallahassee; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Nobles of Bristol; brother, William Howell and wife Nancy of Hattiesburg, MS; many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Leann Nobles Summers (Jacob), Amber Rebecca Smalley O’Connell (Landon), Erica Nobles Smith (Ben), Lance Nobles (Jordan), Lindsey Nobles (Chance), Sky Smalley Parker (Garrett), Eliza Nobles Buchanan (Bryan); great grandchildren, Ansley Summers, Avery Summers, Nash Summers, Layla Thomas, Roman Thomas, Vera Vanlandingham, Caulder Buchanan, Jay Nobles, Gordon Parker, Gavin Parker, Liliana Parker. 

Funeral service were held Wednesday October 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM (ET) at Bristol First Baptist Church in Bristol. Interment followed at Nobles Family Cemetery in Rock Bluff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bristol building fund.

Diane Cynthia (Ranne’) Perry was born on November 17, 1944, in Queens, New-York to August Ranne’ & Irene (Wolanski) Ranne’. She was a CNA and a home health aide for most of her life in Blountstown Florida. She passed away October 11, 2023, at 7:15pm in Blountstown, Florida. 

She was predeceased by her parents, August & Irene Ranne’ of Boston, Massachusetts and a sister Julie Ranne’ of Indiana., her son Kenny Perry of Bristol, Fl. and her daughter in law Shannon Perry of Greenfield, Indiana.

She leaves behind her sons, James (Ellen) Perry of Bristol, Fl. and Michael Perry of Greenfield, Indiana, a brother, Richard (Debbie) Ranne’ of Ormond Beach, Fl. and her (pride and joy) twin grandsons Bryan Perry of Hawthorne Fl., and Ryan Perry of Blountstown, Fl. 

No services will be held as she has donated her body to Science Care to further research on cancer and other diseases.


Curtis Eugene Seymour, 84 of Blountstown, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023. Curtis was born in Wellston, Ohio, June 5, 1939, to the late Lewis and Herma Seymour and had worked as a logger most of his life and was an avid fisherman.

Curtis is preceded in death by his brothers, Don Seymour and Richard “Dick” Seymour and his sister Shelia Barnette.

Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Linda Whitfield; his brother, Bob Seymour and his wife Lois and his sisters, Nancy Scaggs and her husband Allie, Luella Manolay and her husband Ray and Linda Moore and a sister in law Linda Seymour.

Services to honor Curtis’ life were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Nettle Ridge Cemetery near Blountstown.
