RUTH SEWELL

Ruth Sewell, 79, of Hosford, FL passed away at her home Thursday March 23, 2023.  Ruth was born July 22, 1943, to Charles and Mary Myers in Doylestown, PA. Ruth was a teacher for over 40 years with 37 of those at Hosford Elementary. She enjoyed sports including girls’ softball and watching all the football teams. Ruth enjoyed traveling, yard work, and hummingbirds, but truly loved her family. She was a member of Telogia Baptist Church, where she also taught Sunday School. Ruth was a volunteer at the Ministry center for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Myers, a brother Homer Myers, brother, Luke Myers, Donald Duncan, her husband of 34 years, brother-in-law, Douglas Duncan, and sister-in-law, Debra Price. 

Survivors include spouse, Clifford E. Sewell of Hosford, FL; sister-in-law, Pauline Myers of Harrisonburg, VA,  brother, Glenn Myers and wife, Emma of Philadelphia, MS, sister-in-law, Gayle Myers of Crawfordville, FL, sister, Rhoda Yoder and husband, Dan of Grand Ridge, FL, sister, Karen Moats of Marianna, FL, brother, Marlin Myers and wife, Esther of Tallahassee, FL, brother-in-law, David Duncan and wife, Faye of Bristol, FL, sister-in-law, Dorothy Sewell and husband, Roger of Hosford, FL, step-children, Selene Sewell and friend, Jamie Chester and children of Hosford, FL, Felicia Baker and husband, Kenya and children of Blountstown, FL, Brian Sewell and wife, Lisa and children of Hosford, FL; many nieces and nephews whom she deeply loved. 

Family received friends Monday, March 27, 2023 at Telogia Baptist Church in Telogia, FL starting at 10:00 AM (ET). Funeral service followed at 11:00 AM (ET) with Reverend Maurice Langston officiating. Interment followed at Hosford Cemetery in Hosford, FL.

DANNY EUGENE EARNEST

Danny Eugene Earnest, 55, of Hosford, FL passed away March 21, 2023. Danny was born April 21, 1967, to Joseph and Violet Earnest in Qunicy, FL. Danny lived his entire life in Hosford and was of the Holiness faith. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, making everyone laugh, spending time with his family and friends, and was always the life of the party. 

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Wade Earnest; maternal grandparents, Olyan and Verna Mae Kever; paternal grandparents, Malcom Earnest and Opal Neely. Survivors include mother, Violet Louise Sherrod of Hosford, FL; fiancée, Tammi Renee Thursby of Hosford, FL; son, Olyan Casey Earnest of Hosford, FL; brothers, Ronald Wade Earnest and wife, Amy of Hosford, FL; sisters, Nina Louise Moore and husband, Craig of Hosford, FL, Krystle Rudd Ross and husband, Michael of Bristol, FL; grandchildren, Willow Mae Earnest Keeling, Layne Clark; a host of nieces, nephews, and several close friends. 

A graveside service was held Friday, March 24, 2023, at 1:00 PM ET at the Earnest Family Cemetery in Hosford, FL with Reverend Aaron Elkins and Reverend Kyle Peddie officiating.

AJ ESPINEL

With deepest sorrow we would like to announce the passing of our son, AJ Espinel age 19 on Sunday, March12, 2023. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, great grandson, and friend. 

AJ loved the outdoors. He most recently worked on the deep-sea fishing boats out of Capt. Anderson’s Marina.  He loved that job. He also loved hunting, bonfires and hanging with his friends. 

He was a helpful loving young man with a infectious mischievous smile and great blue eyes. 

Those who knew AJ even for a moment lost a shining light in their lives. AJ made an everlasting impression on everyone he met. 

AJ was predeceased in death by his Grandparents Hollis and Katherine Fleeman and Belvin Bryant SR., and his Aunt Patricia Fleeman.

AJ will be missed everyday by his parents, Jose (Chico) and Kimberly Espinel, brothers, Allen Williams, and Zander and Zaine Espinel, Grandparents, Tom Hellman and Louisa Sanchez of Tampa Florida, Belvin and Karen Bryant of Clarksville, FL., Great Grandparent Johnnie Bryant of Clarksville, Fl., all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 

To honor AJ’s memory, we are holding an informal celebration of his life on April 1st at 16437 SW SR 73, Clarksville, Fl., at 11:00 a.m.  

Lunch will be provided by Mission BBQ.

JAMES BRYAN NEWSOME

James Bryan Newsome, 48, of Clarksville, Florida, passed away on March 25, 2023. Bryan was born on November 14, 1974, to Clifford Newsome and Faye Kirkland Newsome in Dothan, Alabama. After Bryan graduated from Blountstown High School in 1992, he went on to become a general contractor. He loved fishing, hunting, and cheering on the Florida State Seminoles with his son Britt. Bryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Alvie and Velma Newsome; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Inez Kirkland; mother and stepfather, Faye and Mike Steverson. He is survived by his son, Britt Newsome; father and stepmother, Clifford and Beth Newsome; brothers, Cliff Newsome, Joseph Hall and wife, Kathryn; sisters, Stacy Miller and husband, Jamie, Melissa Newsome, Amy Monk and husband, Ron, Melissa Hudson and husband, Mickey. He also leaves behind nieces, Bailee Miller, Breanna Miller, Sadie Hudson, and Sophie Losee as well as nephews Trip Hudson, Blake Mancill, and Alex Mancill—in addition to many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be sadly missed and always in our hearts. 

All services will be held at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, Florida. The visitation was held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with the funeral service on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Allan Nichols and Ronnie Smith officiating. We would love you to come and honor his life.

DORIS BAILEY BARRETT

Doris Bailey Barrett, age 90 (November 29, 1932), became dementia free and eternally healed in the fullness of her heavenly father’s love March 20th, 2023, the first day of Spring! She was the last surviving sibling of children (Birdell, Ray, and Snookie Bailey, Lois Powell, and Teresa Coulliette) born to William G. and Edna Parrish Bailey of Altha, Florida. She was married for 68 years and survived by her husband, Max Barrett, age 93. They had one child, Wanda Barrett Yelvington (Mike), granddaughters Sarah Yelvington Adeshina (Will) and Heather Yelvington, and one great-granddaughter (Caro Jessamine Adeshina). She had many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that also survived her. She was a military wife and homemaker for over 25 years, and then a business owner of local Blountstown businesses, the Teen Scene and the Bargain Corner. She resided in Tallahassee and attended Woodrun Baptist Church. She was a woman of faith who whole-heartedly loved her Lord and Savior, family and friends. She lived a life of love and service. She loved antiquing, cooking (lemon pound cake was her ultimate comfort food), caregiving, shopping, singing, square dancing, and traveling. 

Services to celebrate and honor Doris’ life was held Friday, March 24, 2023 at Woodrun Baptist Church, Tallahassee, FL, 10:00am visitation 11:00am service (eastern) officiated by Reverend Don Cable. Graveside committal followed on Saturday in Mellow Valley Alabama, 2:00pm (central).

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25)

ROBERT ERVIN CLARK

Robert Ervin Clark, 91 of Blountstown, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023, in Panama City. Robert was born in Clarksville, Florida, April 19, 1931, to the late Thomas Clark and Cora Lollie Burch and had worked as a welder and millwright most of his life. 

Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Clark; his son, Robert L. “Bobby” Clark; his brothers, Emory, William, James and Franklin Clark and his son in law, David Coker.

Survivors include his sons, Glenn Clark and his wife, Renee of Blountstown and John Paul Clark and his wife, Rita of Blountstown; his daughters, Deborah Coker of Blountstown, Sandra Mamoran and her husband, Larry of Blountstown and Donna Dalton and her husband, Mike of Victoria, Texas; his daughter in law, Ann Clark of Blountstown; thirteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that knew him as “grandpa”. 

Services to honor Roberts life were held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dan Yoder officiating. Interment followed in Wood Cemetery in Blountstown.

ROY LEE MOORE

Roy Lee Moore, age 74, of Blountstown, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Blountstown. Roy was born in Blountstown, Florida, to the late Mary Barfield Moore and LeRoy Moore. Roy was a lifelong resident of Blountstown and grew up in the logging industry, working alongside his father from an early age. Roy became an experienced truck driver and heavy equipment operator and retired from the Calhoun County Road Department. Roy enjoyed his retirement doing what he loved best, spending time outdoors, tinkering, and caring for his animals. Roy was a beloved father and husband who spent his life working hard and providing for his family.  

Roy Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Moore of Blountstown and LeRoy Moore of Blountstown. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janice Moore, and his daughters, Mary Sue Moore (Chase) McClellan of Frink, Florida, and Barbara Ann (Jason) Bodiford of Altha, Florida.  

Services were held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM (CST) at Magnolia Baptist Church in Blountstown, Florida, with interment following at Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery with Jo Hancock officiating. The family received friends from 1:00 PM until service time.
