
A Blountstown man is behind bars facing new charges following an investigation into a fight that occurred Jan. 5.Stephen Mathews was taken into custody this week on a warrant for aggravated battery causing permanent disfigurement.According to the Blountstown Police Department, Mathews got into a fight with Joseph Baker on Lockwood Avenue Jan. 5. Baker was reportedly walking Mathews’ wife home, leading to the altercation. During the fight, Mathews allegedly bit him in the face. Lt. Timothy Partridge noted in his report “chunks of meat were missing from Baker’s lips, nose and neck.” Mathews was initially charged with public affray, but following the investigation, the additional charges were added. Baker told authorities he will be having reconstructive facial surgery due to his extensive injuries.
