New Streetlamps To Light Downtown

Blountstown Main Street members are pleased to announce that the first eight Victorian streetlamps for downtown have arrived. Before their regular meeting Monday night, several members gathered at the City of Blountstown’s Angle Street Complex to check out the new streetlamps. The black iron posts will feature a four arm lamp with five globes. They were custom made by Tuscumbia Iron Works in Tuscumbia, Alabama. The tops and globes will be assembled on the tall posts as they are placed in various spots downtown. Four from the first shipment will go to Magnolia Square with the other four placed along Central Avenue East. Another shipment of nine is planned in the near future. Sponsorships for the lamps sell for $700 and allow family and friends to pay tribute to a loved one with a plaque on the lamp. If you’d like to sponsor a lamp, call Kelli at 899-0500.
