The man who reportedly shot himself in the face after being surrounded by law enforcement officers last month has been arrested.Randall Pitts, 51, has been charged with burglary with battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony fleeing and eluding, and habitually driving while his license is suspended or revoked. He also faces violation of state probation charges. As previously reported by The County Record, Pitts led authorities on a high speed chase just into Jackson County following a domestic incident with his estranged wife June 26. Pitts allegedly shoved his way into her home and pushed her to the ground while holding a handgun. The woman said he pressed something to her head and said, “Shut up. I’ll blow your brains out.” He took her cell phone and car, then fled, winding up on Boneyard Road where he shot himself in the chin. He was treated and released from an area hospital, then taken into custody last week. He is being held without bond.
