Liberty traffic stops lead to multiple  local drug charges

Saturday afternoon, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant (Sgt.) William Buckhalt conducted a traffic stop on State Road 20 between Hosford and Bristol.

During the stop, Deputy Alan Crosby arrived to assist Sgt. Buckhalt. Sgt. Buckhalt deployed his K9 partner Ollie. K9 Ollie gave a positive alert to the vehicle. Deputies conducted a search and located crystal methamphetamine, syringes, and other drug paraphernalia items inside a purse, belonging to the passenger of the vehicle. 

The passenger, Jo Ann Spurlock was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, manufacture of drug paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Saturday evening, Deputy Michael King conducted a traffic stop at the Chevron in Bristol.  During the traffic stop a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Deputies located approximately 789 grams of marijuana along with a 9mm handgun. 

The driver, Jatyren Walker was charged with possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana. 

The passenger, Treyvon Fennell was charged with possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
