Liberty inmate escapes from jail

Authorities were searching at press time Tuesday morning for a Liberty County Jail inmate who escaped during morning chores.Rodell Pete, 22, of Marianna, reportedly fled when he was taking the trash out. Pete, who was booked into the jail Aug. 6 for violating his state probation, was a trustee.Col. Brigham Shuler of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office advises Pete left his striped jail shirt in a visible spot before he ran.The U.S. Marshal’s Office tracked him down later that day at his girlfriend’s house in Marianna.
