Liberty comes back in 7th for win over Franklin Co.

On Wednesday, May 15th, the Liberty County Lady Bulldogs hosted the Franklin County Lady Seahawks for the Regional Championship.  The Lady Bulldogs scored first in the bottom of the 2nd inning but the Lady Seahawks took the lead in the top of the 5th inning scoring 4.  The Lady Seahawks scored 2 more runs in the top of the 6th inning.  The Lady Bulldogs were down 6 to 1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning.  The Lady Bulldogs were up for the challenge and ready to fight.  Lauren Davis led off with a hit, followed by a hit from Caleigh Peddie. Chesnee Hires got a hit loading the bases, Kallan Mercer drew a walk scoring a run making it 6 to 2, with two outs Abella Faircloth had a 9 pitch at bat and singled scoring another bulldog run. Cha’miya Williams got a base hit to left field scoring another bulldog run.  The score was now 6 to 4 with 2 outs and the winning run on 1st base.  Gabrie Flowers hits a double clearing the bases to win the ballgame.  Cha’miya Williams scored all the way from 1st to help the Lady Bulldogs secure the walkoff win against the Lady Seahawks 7 to 6.  

Taylor Kincaid went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, Kallan Mercer went 2 for 3 with a RBI, Abella Faircloth went 1 for 2 with a RBI, and Gabrie Flowers went 1 for 3 with a double and 3 RBIs.  Kallan Mercer was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs.  

The Lady Bulldogs now have a record of 20-6.  They will play on Friday, May 24th in Clermont in the State Semifinal against Branford High School at 1:45est.  If the Bulldogs win, they will play on Saturday May 25th at 2:00 for the State Championship.  The Lady Bulldogs will be heading down to Clermont on Thursday May 23rd at 9:00am est.  Please come see the Lady Bulldogs off on Thursday from the Liberty County High School Gym parking lot.
