Shortly before 8:00 PM, On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report from a female who stated she had just been sexually battered by Braylan Hill, released from prison the day before. Investigators and the Gulf Coast Sexual Assault Program responded and an interview was obtained, and an FDLE SAE was conducted by nurses.
Meanwhile, a regional BOLO was disseminated to law enforcement authorities. A deputy encountered Braylan Hill on Ashley Shiver Road. When Hill spotted the deputy he immediately fled on foot into a wooded area. K9 tracking teams from Calhoun and Liberty Correctional Institutions were summoned to the scene where Hill was subsequently taken into custody after being located trying to hide in a body of stagnant water. Physical evidence that corroborated the victim’s story was located and collected by CCSO Investigators. Hill is facing charges of Sexual Battery and False Imprisonment.
