Hurricane Ian was gaining strength Tuesday morning as it passed the western tip of Cuba. The projected path has the storm making landfall near Tampa Thursday morning. According to Emergency Management Director Jamie Norris, a local state of emergency was put into effect Monday at an emergency board meeting and the storm is being monitored. “We look to get minimal affects if it stays on this track. We have no plans to open shelters at this time. The school board is also monitoring the situation as it progresses and will inform the public if closures or warranted,” Norris noted.
