The 2012 election season is heating up with another two candidates stepping forward over the past week.Jerry Guilford of Blountstown has announced plans to run for the district 1 seat on the county commission. The post is currently held by Danny Ray Wise.Also filing his letter of intent this week is Harold Pickron who will be seeking re-election to his district five post on the county commission.Registered Republicans are reminded that early voting is underway for the presidential preference election. Early voting will run through Jan. 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Calhoun County Supervisor of Elections Office located in the courthouse basement. Election day is Jan. 31. Registered Republicans will be the only ones casting ballots in this election as President Barack Obama is the obvious Democratic candidate on the ballot in the fall.A sample ballot can be found in our print edition.
