Groundbreaking Oct. 5th for new BES

BES was sized according to DOE student calculations for 598 student stations.  At a little over 87,000 square ft., it will have 35 classrooms, multiple resource rooms, a library, a cafetorium with stage space, and a central administration building with multiple rooms for related services including a nurse.  It will be built with the latest security standards, separate parent and bus drop off locations and an attractive courtyard in the center of the construction.  The pandemic made it necessary for the project to be funded at roughly $30,200,000.00 across two legislative sessions.  The District will be required to follow Special Facility requirements for our part of the local effort and pledge no more than the value of 1 mill per year of our capital improvement millage until our participation requirement is met.  This will amount to roughly $2,000,000.00.  We are excited for this project to be taking shape and we are looking at a completion date for the fall of 2024.
