Giving Our Past a Future

Dedication ceremony for historic mural, Victorian lampposts planned Friday night at Magnolia Square downtown Historic scenes from days gone by can be spotted at the corner of SR 20 and 71 in downtown Blountstown. This magnificent mural designed by local artist Jeff Vickery was sponsored by Blountstown Main Street. Edwin and Lynn Strawn of The Diamond Corner graciously agreed to allow use of an exterior wall for this masterpiece. A dedication ceremony is planned Friday night at 7 p.m. in Magnolia Square to celebrate the wall, as well as honor those who have donated Victorian lampposts for downtown Blountstown. In addition, Keep Calhoun County Beautiful members will be recognized for their work at Magnolia Square. Make plans to stop by for the ceremony and stick around for the Back-to-School Movie on the Square after dark (details in adjacent article). Above, Jeff Vickery and his son, Wesley, install the mural panels on the wall outside The Diamond Corner.
