Fireworks show set downtown on July 4

BY KRISTY TERRY Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce Downtown Blountstown will light up Monday, July 4, with a community fireworks show set to begin at approximately 8:45 p.m. Come have a blast downtown and watch the fireworks from: - Magnolia Square - Corner of SR 20/SR 71 - Main Street Gazebo - Sam Atkins Park - Or your favorite place to watch downtown parades! This event is sponsored by Rivertown Community Church, Blountstown Rotary Club, Ramsey’s Piggly Wiggly, Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, City of Blountstown, Blountstown Police Department, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. The Blountstown Historic Preservation Committee will be selling hot dogs and drinks beginning at 6 p.m. in front of the old M & B Train on Hwy. 71 to raise funds for the Depot Museum. This is a great spot to watch the fireworks and grab a snack. The BHS Tiger Booster Club will be selling barbecue sandwiches at Magnolia Square beginning at 6 p.m. Football players will also be on golf carts selling sandwiches up and down SR 20 and Main Street. Road Closures: The portion of Charlie Johns Street between Folsom Street and Evans Avenue will be closed from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
