A special election has been planned to fill the seat on the Blountstown City Council recently vacated by Phillip Hill.Hill resigned from the Ward 1 post after moving outside the city limits.According to the Supervisor of Elections office, the special election will be held the same day as the general election, November 2. Qualifying week for this position has been set for August 9-13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is also early voting week for other races. Anyone wishing to qualify for this position can pick up their paper work at the Elections office in the basement of the Calhoun County Courthouse.The winner of the race will hold the position for the remainder of Hill’s two year term.City Council members are paid $25 per meeting.
