Driver slams into fire chief, trucks, flees

While authorities were working a traffic fatality last Wednesday night, they almost had another tragedy on their hands. Several emergency vehicles were at the scene of a crash on CR 167 near CR 274 with emergency lights on when Richard F. Bouch II approached in a 2009 Dodge Charger. Authorities say he was driving too fast, veered to the left, and struck Mossy Pond Fire Chief William L. Truax, 45, who was directing traffic. Bouch then struck a parked fire truck, veered back into the southbound lane and hit a Toyota pickup driven by Leonard Suggs, 49, of Youngstown. Fortunately, none of those hit were injured. Bouch fled with Calhoun County deputies in pursuit. He was caught on Lake Point Road in Jackson County and charged with DUI, leaving the scene of a crash, and violation of drivers license restrictions.
