Driver and 6-year-old seriously injured in SR 20 wreck Monday

A 33-year-old Marianna man and a six-year-old passenger in his sedan received serious injuries in a traffic accident Monday morning on SR 20 west of Blountstown.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol,  the Marianna man was eastbound on SR 20 when he failed to observe a slow moving tractor with a bushhog up ahead also eastbound.  The tractor was driven by a 37-year-old Grand Ridge man.

The action caused  the sedan’s front to collide with the tractor’s rear.  The sedan then turned counter clockwise and rolled over a full rotation and came to rest in the westbound lane of SR 20 on its wheels facing northeast.  The tractor crossed the centerline after being struck and traveled off the roadway north of SR 20 and turned over on its right side.

The injured driver and child passenger were transported by helicopter to an area hospital.
