Students from five counties were invited to compete (Calhoun, Holmes, Jackson, Liberty, and Washington).Candice Griffin and Harlea Perdue competed in the President’s reading contest; Stephanie Martin and Kate McFarland competed in the speech contest; Laura Stoltzfus competed in the writing contest; Eric Jones and China Williams competed in the oral interpretation contest; Stewart Herndon and David Leonard competed in the grammar/mechanics/usage contest; DeeAnna Grimes competed in the humanities contest; Austin Aycock and Laura Stoltzfus competed in the literature contest, Junicia Baker and Kevin Gutierrez competed in the Spanish language contest. Each of these students represented Blountstown High School very well!For the President’s reading contest, there was only one winner, in all of the other competitions, first place, second place, third place, and honorable mention(s) were awarded.Harlea Perdue – the presidential medallion and a cash prize of $50.
