EXCITING NEWS! The Commerce Building is undergoing renovations, including a new storefront and windows.
As part of a grant that has been administered by the Calhoun County Board of County Commissioners, a con- tract was awarded to BGN of Panama City, Florida, to replace all windows, doors, and storefronts of the build- ing. BGN is the company that recently completed renovation work on Helping Hands and Snowden Land Surveying on Northeast Pear Street.
The first step in this process is to remove the remaining windows, plywood, and rotten framing from the entire building. When this is completed, measurements will be taken for new windows and doors. Under the terms of the contract, all work will be completed by September of this year.
Saving Downtown Blountstown is looking forward to the completion of this part of the restoration project. If anyone is interested in discussing the possibility of leas- ing ground-floor space for commercial purposes within this building, they should contact Bill Gaskin at 404- 427-8043 or email him at gaskinbi@gmail.com.
