City looking at possibilities for vacant downtown building

The building that once housed McCaskill Shoe Store and later Friendly’s has been gutted and cleaned up by the City of Blountstown with assistance from Calhoun Correctional Institution. Readers may recall Walter Kastli donated the building to the city last year. It was full of water with the ceiling, shelves and floor rotting. City Manager Emory Pierce (shown above) says the next phase is to have the roof evaluated. City officials will then decide how to proceed and look at possibilities for the donated space.
