BREAKING NEWS: BPD Officer Fired; Admits to meth use

In a shocking story that developed over the past five days, a Blountstown police officer has been dismissed due to meth use. Chief Rodney Smith has confirmed to The County Record that Ofc. Caleb Tolbert has been terminated. Information was received that Tolbert, who was on probationary status, had been using meth. When confronted, Tolbert allegedly admitted to using meth, advised he had a problem and needed help. After receiving the tip about Tolbert’s alleged meth use, Chief Smith said he opted to confront the officer immediately, as opposed to conducting an undercover drug investigation, since Tolbert was due to report for work within a few hours and would be behind the wheel of a patrol car.
