The keen eye of an off duty officer led to the arrest of a Liberty County man last Wednesday.Avonce Brye, 30, of Bristol, has been charged with possession of cocaine and less than 20 grams of marijuana.According to the Blountstown Police Department, an unnamed officer was parked in a personal vehicle outside Travis Wireless when he noticed a man parked beside him holding what appeared to be a bag of cocaine. Ofc. Timothy Partridge and Sgt. Fred Tanner arrived on the scene and made contact with the driver, later identified as Brye. He was parked in a handicapped zone without a handicap placard and appeared extremely nervous. Brye consented to a search which turned up a small plastic bag with a white powder substance that field tested positive for cocaine. After being placed under arrest, Brye admitted to having four more bags of cocaine, along with a bag of marijuana, in his pants. During an interview at the police station, Brye stated he had purchased the cocaine in Bristol for $50. He was booked in the Calhoun County Jail and given conditional release the following day.
