The Blountstown Tigers and Liberty County Bulldogs met at Bowles Field Friday night to open the 2024 football season with a big, fired up fan base in the stands. The Tigers and Bulldogs traded blows in the first half ending with the Tigers ahead on the scoreboard, 28-14. Tiger Curt Ellis had a 91 yard kickoff return and scooped up a Liberty County fumble and raced 62 yards for a touchdown to give the Tigers the halftime cushion.
The Tigers would add three more touchdowns in the second half to pull away from the Bulldogs and claim the 48-14 season opening victory. For first year head coach Brad Waggoner, it was his first win as a Tiger.
The Tigers will now turn their attention to this week’s opponent Rutherford. Blountstown will travel to Panama City THURSDAY night to battle the Rams at Tommy Oliver Stadium with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. The Bulldogs will be at home hosting the Marianna Bulldogs with a 7:30 ET kickoff.
