On July 28 at approximately 9:58 p.m., troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a traffic collision involving a bicyclist on SR 20 just east of SW Bob Mayo Road. Upon arrival, troopers found a bicyclist lying on the roadway and unresponsive.
Troopers further located a 2014 Ford Explorer on the grass shoulder of State Road 20. A witness on scene stated an unknown vehicle struck the bicyclist prior to the witness locating a 74 year old Chipley man lying in the roadway.
The witness then stated before he was able to warn other drivers, an unknown vehicle ran over the male lying in the roadway, followed by a Mini Van, followed by the Ford Explorer. The witness stated the unknown vehicle and the Mini Van then fled the scene.
The 74 year old bicyclist was pronounced deceased on cene by Emergency Medidcal Services. No other suspect information is was available for the three vehicles which fled the scene.
