A Tasty Experiment

By David Bevan Mrs. Chambers’ 4th grade class has been conducting research about physical and chemical changes and she thought that she’d make a delicious demonstration of just how these changes occur by baking cupcakes for her class. The students had to identify physical and chemical reactions in the batter as it changed shape and texture. As the cupcakes cooled, Mrs. Chambers’ students recorded the kinds of changes that had occurred in the cupcakes. A group of area teachers also attended the demonstration to observe Mrs. Chambers’ teaching techniques in a hands-on project.
