4-H Babysitting Basic Day Camp Held At Panhandle Pioneer Settlement

The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement was the setting for the 4-H Babysitting Basics Day Camp held Friday. Participants learned all it takes to be a trained, prepared babysitter. They received the American Red Cross Babysitting Handbook, learned basic first aid, were taught the basics of how to care for and communicate with youth of different ages, how to start a babysitting business, and more. A variety of community leaders from Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kristy Halley Speers to paramedic Brad Owens spoke to the attendees. Monica Brinkley of the Liberty County Extension Office, along with Whitney Cherry of the Calhoun County 4-H, coordinated the event.
